As a winter storm begins to come across our area, it’s important to consider health and safety measures. With hazardous road conditions and the potential for power outages, consider your preparation. Taking a few proactive steps can help keep you, your family, and your neighbors safe.
Avoid Flooded and Hazardous Roads
Heavy rain, melting snow, and strong winds can quickly lead to flooded roadways. Even a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the road. Do not attempt to drive through flooded areas and always choose a safer alternate route. If road conditions worsen, stay off the roads whenever possible.
Drive Only If Absolutely Necessary
Freezing rain, snow, high winds, and possible blizzard conditions can make travel extremely dangerous. If you must drive, slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and remain alert for changing conditions. Non-essential trips can wait until conditions improve.
