Poor Circulation Could Be Preventing Your Wound From Healing

Did you know poor circulation can actually prevent wounds from healing

Do you have a wound on your foot, ankle, or leg that is not healing?

Poor circulation may be the reason. Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) happens when blood vessels in the legs become narrowed, reducing blood flow.

Your body needs healthy blood flow to bring oxygen and nutrients to a wound. Without enough blood flow, wounds can heal more slowly and may be at greater risk for infection.

Signs of PAD May Include:

  • Leg pain when walking
  • Cold feet or legs
  • Numbness or weakness in the legs
  • Slow-healing wounds
  • Changes in skin color on the legs or feet

Don’t Wait to Seek Care

A wound that is not improving should be evaluated by a wound care specialist. Specialized wound care teams can identify problems such as PAD and create a treatment plan to help improve healing.

Early treatment can help prevent serious complications and get you back to living your life.  A wound care specialist has the specialized expertise to help get your wound healed.
