Flu, RSV, and COVID-19: Protect Yourself and Your Loved Ones This Season

Flu, RSV, COVID 19 vaccines are great protectors from the illnesses.

As the colder months are upon us, cases of flu, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), and COVID-19 tend to rise. These respiratory viruses can cause serious illness – especially in young children, older adults, and those with underlying health conditions. Fortunately, vaccines are available and proven to help protect against all three.

Influenza (Flu):
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months and older. It’s best to get vaccinated by the end of October, before flu activity increases, but getting it later can still provide valuable protection throughout the season.

RSV:
For the first time, there are vaccines available for adults 60 and older, as well as a preventive antibody for infants younger than 8 months and certain high-risk children up to 19 months. These help reduce the risk of severe RSV infection and hospitalization.

COVID-19:
Updated COVID-19 vaccines are available for everyone 6 months and older, providing protection against the latest variants. Getting vaccinated or boosted this fall helps prevent severe illness and hospitalization during respiratory virus season.

Staying up to date on these vaccines is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself, your family, and your community. Talk to your healthcare provider or local health department about which vaccines are right for you and when to receive them.

Talk to your primary care provider or health care team to discuss your next steps.
